Beginning in early October, the Catholic Charities St. Augustine Office opened applications for the Hope For The Holidays Assistance Program. Through this program, families are able to apply for assistance and receive donated toys for their children during Christmas.
Last year, our office collected donated toys and food for 1,566 children. This year, we have already collected 180 family applications and counting- 80 families from St. Johns County, 40 from Flagler County, and 40 from Putnam County.
Along with Christmas toy assistance, this year we were able to assist families with Thanksgiving food through the generosity of our community.
During the month of November, our Food Pantry received over 5,683 pounds of food from Thanksgiving food drives around our community. With the help of these food drives, we've distributed over 10,631 pounds of food and 225 grocery store gift certificates to families in need this Thanksgiving season.
